Effect of bisphenol S on the Differentiation and Lipid Metabolism of 3T3-L1 Preadipocytes by Dr Xing-hua Zhou

 Bisphenol S (BPS) is a kind of double phenolic compounds, and the structure is similar to the bisphenol A (BPA). In 2015, France¡¯s ban on BPA became effective, this law prohibits the use of BPA in all packaging, containers and utensils intended to come into direct contact with food. As the safety of BPA has been questioned, the BPS is currently used as a substitute for food packaging materials. However, it is not sufficiently study for its security before the widely application of BPS.

Obesity is a kind of the metabolic abnormalities phenomenon, leading to excessive accumulation of fat with body's energy imbalance. In recent years, the growing number of studies have found that environmental endocrine disruptors such as diethylstilbestrol, BPA is also one of the important cause of obesity. Due to the similar chemical structure of the BPS and estradiol, BPA, its estrogen effect and its effect on human body endocrine disruptors has caused the attention of people. We studies BPS interfere with lipid metabolism pathways through cells experimental, it provide scientific criterion for BPS in food packaging materials for safe use. It show that BPA and BPS can induce the accumulation of lipid in the differentiated 3T3-L1 cells, but it show non dose-response relationship with promote intracellular triglyceride accumulation of BPA and BPS, and the key gene level of lipid metabolismis is different, it speculated that BPA and BPS may interfere with lipid metabolism through two different metabolic pathways.
